It is 130,000 hectares, the smallest national park on the island and the eastern coastal plain has been identified. Founded in 1989, the park is dominated by mangroves, swamp forests, and steppe areas. Secondary forests have replaced the uninfluenced by human jungle regions. However, there is a rich bird life - more than 300 bird species - before. A special feature represents the rare glossy duck, which nests in the grassy plains. Elephants, tigers, sun bears and the small tree-dwelling separates the highly endangered Sumatran rhinos live here too. In the swamps meet the narrow-snouted crocodiles and, in smaller Sunda gavials.
